A broken mosaic sign in Moorland Park has been given a vibrant new lease of life thanks to the creativity of local children and support from our contractor Hale Group.
Working with Welsh community arts organisation Tanio, pupils from Lliswerry Primary School took part in a week-long workshop to design a new mosaic that reflects the spirit of their neighbourhood. Many of the children live in the Moorland area and were excited to contribute to a project that celebrates their community.
The new mosaic replaces a sign that had deteriorated over the years on a roundabout in Moorland Park. The children’s designs were brought to life by Tanio’s creative team and Artist Chris Partridge, then unveiled at a special event attended by the pupils and teachers, as well as Hedyn and Hale Group representatives.
The initiative is part of our commitment to investing in the communities surrounding our Longmeadow development, where we’re building new homes.
This project is a brilliant example of how community benefit funding can make a real difference in the areas we’re investing and building new homes. It’s not just about improving public spaces; it’s about giving young people a voice and a sense of pride in where they live. The mosaic is a symbol of creativity, collaboration and community spirit.
