Hedyn’s ongoing commitment to making digital access and skills available to all has been recognised as we received the Digital Inclusion Charter Accreditation.

This accreditation, delivered by Cwmpas in partnership with the Welsh Government, celebrates organisations across Wales who demonstrate a clear and proactive approach to tackling digital exclusion.

As a ‘Digital by Choice’ housing association, Hedyn is dedicated to supporting our residents and communities to develop the digital skills they need to thrive. We understand that everyone’s digital journey is different, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Through free group and one-to-one drop-in sessions held in our communities and independent living schemes, residents can share their digital needs with us—allowing us to tailor support to suit them.

We also provide guidance by signposting to trusted organisations and educational opportunities, helping residents build confidence and capability. For those most at risk of digital poverty, we offer practical support through donations or loans of SIM cards, digital devices, and Wi-Fi access, ensuring no one is left behind.

Our Customer Service Standards reflect this inclusive approach, stating:

“We want our services to be accessible for everyone. As everyone’s situation is different, we’ll make sure our services are designed to meet your needs and centred on your preferences.”

A Hedyn colleague sat next to one of our over 55 housing customers helping them with the use of a tablet device.

We also offer demonstrations on how to contact Hedyn, raise repairs, and share photos when needed—helping us resolve queries quickly and efficiently, using the communication method that works best for each resident.

This accreditation marks a significant milestone in our journey. It builds on the foundation laid by Newport City Homes, which first achieved the accreditation in June 2022—three years before our merger.

Our work is guided by the Minimum Digital Living Standards Programme, which defines digital inclusion as:

“A minimum digital standard of living includes, but is more than having accessible internet, adequate equipment, and the skills, knowledge and support people need. It is about being able to communicate, connect and engage with opportunities safely and with confidence.”

We’re proud to stand alongside other Welsh organisations in championing digital inclusion.
